The summit is open to intermediate 4-H members (ages 11-13). Senior 4-H members (ages 14+) can apply to become a facilitator to help our planning team with our break out sessions.

The 4-H Youth Summit will be held in a hybrid model incorporating both virtual and in-person activities for the summit participants. Our leadership lab, a multiple hour hands-on leadership learning experience, will be held in-person at multiple locations across the state. The rest of the activities will be held virtually on zoom including guest speakers, education sessions, and recreation opportunities.

We are looking for passionate adult volunteers ages 21 and older to serve as chaperones for our virtual and in-person activities. The role and performance of a chaperone can significantly influence the positive outcomes of youth participation at the Youth Summits. Learn additional details in the chaperone application form.

We are providing a virtual orientation on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. to share the schedule, chaperone roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions. Leadership Lab training will be virtual on Saturday, January 8, 2022 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Teens 13-19-years-old! Are you interested in a memorable learning experience that will:

Plan to join the fun at the annual California 4-H State Leadership Conference and meet youth from across California for leadership training, and networking!

California State Field Day 2021

State 4-H Presentation Day (pre-qualification and pre-registration required by May 13, 2021 by 5 p.m.): Volunteer evaluators provide written feedback to individual or teams of 4-H members on their presentations. Evaluation is criterion-based using a rubric. Types of presentations vary between demonstrations, prepared speech, interpretive reading, impromptu, and others. 

Interview Contest (pre-registration required by May 13, 2021 by 5 p.m.):  The Interview Contest is a Public Speaking contest that gives members an opportunity to practice the real-life skill of applying for a job.

4-H Film Festival logo

State 4-H Film Festival (pre-registration required by May 13, 2021 by 5 p.m.):  Video is a medium that is both an art and a science. 4-H has been using video to promote various aspects of the program and recruit new volunteers and members. Join the members of 4-H who have already contributed to the videos on the CA 4-H YouTube channel!

4-H Robotics Competition (pre-registration recommended by May 13, 2021 by 5 p.m.):  Robotics can spark a youth’s interest and imagination or can be a stepping stone to a better understanding of core school subjects that can lead to rewarding careers in STEM related fields. Also, robots are FUN!

2021 State 4-H Fashion Revue

Pre-qualification & Pre-registration are required by May 13, 2021

Volunteer evaluators provide feedback to 4-H members on their clothing and accessory choices using criterion-based rubrics. Categories are Traditional, Consumer Science Purchased, Box Challenge, Vintage Challenge, and Cosplay Challenge.  Organized by a committee of youth and adult volunteers who work throughout the year on all aspects of the event.
